White square, 2023

Individuals build a relationship with surroundings in chemical reactions. In the process, they are connecting with neighbors, getting away from another and changing their own shapes. they could finally become a mass which has a close relationship.

Tiny balls put in a square frame are fired in this work. In combination of materials, under controlled heat, the balls change in expression from solid to fluid involving others. All of the fired pieces are white squares at a glance, however they have different details. Each is created on a delicate balance between the distance of individuals, their characteristics and the situation they are placed in.

In a relationship between individual and mass, new shape can be created but can change its original shape at the same time. The white squares express both beauty and risk of the relationships.
